Archivist’s Note

Are you wondering about the world of the 1940’s Hollywood still photographer?  This archivist’s note guides anyone with a curious itch to learn about that world.

This site pays tribute to my father, Ned Scott, a still photographer who toiled in the Hollywood film industry. With no formal training or even a high school education, Ned Scott created memorable images which are found on the covers of books and magazine published today, 80 years after their creation.Ned Scott photographed A-list celebrities during the 1930’s and ’40’s classic film period.  He shuttered some of the best John Wayne photos and photos of Rita Hayworth ever seen.  His stylish imagery says a great deal about the world of the Hollywood still man who stepped behind the large format cameras then in common use.  Very little remains of the stories of Hollywood’s classic era photographers.  I hope this web site can provide a tiny glimpse into that world.

I want to recognize the many friends I have made along the way over the past 30 years. Cheers to you all, and keep the light burning brightly.
